Teams change, strategies are rewritten and more resources are invested—yet familiar problems return. The missing piece is often not effort, but the ability to see the structures, relationships, information flows and feedback loops beneath the visible event.
Inspired by Donella Meadows’ Thinking in Systems and the twelve leverage points, this pathway treats AI as a thinking partner—helping leaders explore consequences, surface hidden patterns and find interventions capable of creating greater impact with fewer resources.
Meaningful change takes time. Learn to see the whole system and create something others can keep learning from and improving.
INTELLECTUAL LEGACY & CREDIT
Dr. Donella (Dana) H. Meadows was one of the twentieth century’s most influential environmental and systems thinkers. After earning a PhD in biophysics from Harvard, she worked with an MIT team applying system dynamics to global problems and became principal author of The Limits to Growth (1972). Her work helps generations see how structures, feedback, information flows, rules, goals and paradigms shape complex outcomes.
Kaku’s systems-thinking pathway honours her intellectual legacy, particularly Thinking in Systems and “Leverage Points: Places to Intervene in a System.” We encourage learners to read the original work and explore the official archive and educational resources maintained by the Donella Meadows Project.
Strengthen context-setting, iterative dialogue and the human judgement needed to work meaningfully with AI.
See the structures, relationships and recurring patterns beneath events—and find higher-impact places to intervene.
Process genuine dilemmas, recognise cognitive biases and make stronger decisions under uncertainty.
Design learning structures that continue beyond formal training and reduce dependence on top-down direction.
WHAT CHANGES
AI PROMPT THINKING
Tools will change. The ability to ask, check, reflect and iterate will remain. AI Prompt Thinking moves people beyond one-off chats into repeatable thinking and working loops.
